the eye saga continues

i’m sure i dont need to remind you that i go to my lasik doctor every 3-6 weeks. Hmm well on my last visit i walk into that shitbox and it’s like a ghost town. i was thrilled because i didn’t have to sit right up next to any mouth breathers in the waiting room. nor were there any screaming kids with rotting teeth and deaf parents. yay!

So the staff idiots take me in the back to do my preliminary eye exam –the one where they say “you cant see ANY of those lines? You sure, hon?” Only this time while i’m struggling to get through the alphabet they bust out the good news: the eye doctor AND the surgeon have quit. (!!!!!) “So what am I doing here?” i asked her.

“Oh well we managed to get a lasik surgeon from Florida, he’s probably going to stay.” she said.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: WHAT. THE. FUCK. have you ever heard of a medical practice where the doctor and the surgeon just up and leave? Don’t people take their patients with them or at least refer them or notify them or SOMETHING?? So, I’ll make this brief: the temp doctor told me all kinds of bullshit, like it would take a year from my left eye to heal from the lasik and that the vision in my right eye is perfect (lol). I had already made up my mind that they could keep my thousands of dollars, i’m never going back there again, so I just let him talk. Mind you, i can’t read with the right eye nor can I see at night. but whatever.

So I am thrilled i will never ever have to see those mindfuckers again! but, SIGH, I will have to go somewhere else to pay to fix they damage theyve done.

Enter new dreamy doctor.

Clean waiting room, pleasant, clean staff, no double negative use, no hours of waiting, no inbred patients, and OMG they figured out right away that i can see from neither eye! yes, they confirm one is far sighted, one is near sighted! yes they did their job and recommended new things and SOOOOO i’m getting PRK in my left eye next tuesday!

I’m not scared. I’m terrified. This will be the 3rd surgery on my left eye but something has GOT to be done. It’s only going to be about $1900 for this eye because my insurance pays a teensy portion of it. So thats good. Apparently PRK is more painful and a longer recovery time than lasik but if gets me at least something i can live with, vision that allows me to use both eyes at once– it’ll all be worth it.
